Membership is open to any employee of a service industry, their family and friends.

The credit union is owned by its members. Every adult member buys 1 X $5 share which provides them with part ownership of our credit union. These shares DO NOT return a dividend, and are fully refundable if in the future you decide to resign from our credit union.

All adult members purchase the same number of shares - no more and no less. This means that all members have equal shareholdings, therefore equal rights and responsibilities as credit union members.

The rights and responsibilities you assume when you join the credit union include:

  • operating your credit union account in accordance with the constitution of the credit union
  • the right to vote at Special and Annual General Meetings on issues affecting our credit union
  • the right to stand for or elect from the membership a Board of Directors who are given the responsibility of running our credit union on your behalf

Once you become a member, you can remain a member for life with a full range of products and services available to you - regardless of where you work, or if you resign or retire from your job.

The credit union has a culture of striving to provide top quality financial products and excellent service in an ethical, honest and fair manner.

The credit union (Industries Mutual Credit Union Limited of which HIP Credit Union is a division) is an Authorised Deposit Taking Institution (ADI) regulated by APRA and holds an Australian Financial Services Licence (AFSL) regulated by ASIC.
